Skanzen in Tihany
I had been thinking of an old peasant house long time ago, and in March 2006 my family and I began the work.
As I wanted a Skanzen with authentic yard, building, equipment, it took a lot of energy and inquires to create a perfect calling of the past. I worked out all the details.
The wooden carvings here are mostly the works of Béla Mónus, an artist from Budapest, but some are made by my wife and me. The yard with several utensils, usable things, the small smith's workshop, the so called "kurta kocsma" (small pub), the shoemaker's workshop, and all pieces of our endless collection show us the peasants' hard-working, simple life.
The yard is full of flowers, and there are several programs among them, such as light opera nights, Hungarian folk-song nights, baking fresh traditional bread in the oven, etc.
Hoping to meet you in our Skanzen in the future, best regards:
Róbert Papp and family
